The US Navy has been acquiring Virginia class submarine since many decades owing to superior features and precise combat functions. The Virginia class submarine (SSN-774) is considered to be the best with respect to nuclear missiles and other types of sophisticated ammunition. The US Navy operates three different kinds of attacking submarines with nuclear powered missiles, Tomahawk missiles, Harpoon missiles and other anti-surface ammunition as well.

The nuclear powered ballistic missiles (SSBN's), nuclear enabled cruise missiles and exceptional forces submarines form the bulk of Virginia class submarine models in US. All these different types of Virginia class submarine models perform diverse functions like secret intelligence, long-distance surveillance of land areas, inundated areas, extended sea shores and accurate reconnaissance as well.

At the same time, Virginia class submarines have been pressed into US Navy service for secret insertion events, revival of SOF, secret strikes for enemy warships, clandestine self-protective events and offensive small warfare mechanisms.

Virginia class submarine models also carry out secret anti-warfare tactics and anti-land war techniques for US Navy. The overall role of these highly advanced submarines in United States Navy is great and massive without any speculation. Virginia class submarine models tend to be economical when compared with Seawolf and Los Angeles class submarines.

The wide-ranging technical, mechanical and operational abilities of Virginia class submarines are considered to be better according to US naval experts. As a result, the US naval forces have a positive impression that these unique model submarines are better optimized for any kind of secret investigation, surveillance tasks or any other types of war missions.

The overall design and structure of a Virginia class submarine is also bigger than Seawolf and Los Angeles class submarine. This factor is the biggest aspect which is given prime importance in US Naval Forces. The Virginia type submarines have enhanced technologies that can easily execute warfare functions diligently.

However, the United States Navy currently spends about $2.6 billion to purchase a single   Virginia class submarine. The initial model was introduced in the year 2004 for US maritime activities. The government of United States has already undertaken several massive projects pertaining to acquisition of highly advanced Virginia class submarines.

The Parliament of United States has cleared a multiyear attainment plan demanded by US Navy through which a total of nine submarines would be purchased. On the other hand, the previous Virginia submarine acquisitions were also attained with the help from favorable multiyear attainment plans.  

It has been observed that the general effectiveness of these extremely powerful and advantageous submarines have a huge hand in determining the future course of naval events in United States. Virginia class submarine models are jointly manufactured by General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, Point Quonset and Newport shipyard.

All these divisions are entitled to manufacture diverse parts and other components independently. The joint production plan initiated by US Congress for United States Navy has already given fruitful results. Under any joint production plan for US Navy, full attacking submarines are manufactured at individual yards for superior composition.
